A slow washing machine drain is one of those problems that sneaks up on you. One load it drains a little slow. The next, you've got water sitting in the drum or pooling on the floor. It doesn't take long before a minor annoyance turns into a real mess.
That's exactly what we were dealing with on this one. The drain line was clogged up enough that it just couldn't keep up with the volume of water a washing machine pushes through. We ran the drain snake up through the roof vent stack to clear the blockage from the top down - and pulled out a solid chunk of buildup in the process. That's not uncommon. Over time, lint, soap residue, and other debris can build up in those lines and choke the flow down to almost nothing.
The washing machine connection box also showed its age - rust staining, buildup around the hot and cold supply valves, and years of wear on the fittings. These are the kinds of things that get overlooked until something goes wrong. Catching all of it at once means fewer surprises down the road.
Once the line was cleared, water moved through the way it should. No backup, no gurgling, no slow drain. Just a clean, open line doing its job. That's the goal every time we do a drain cleaning - not just good enough, but fully clear.
If your laundry room drain is slow, making gurgling sounds, or backing up onto the floor, that's your sign to call before it gets worse. These clogs don't go away on their own, and the longer you wait, the bigger the potential for water damage.
