A running toilet is one of those problems that's easy to ignore - until you realize how much water it's actually wasting. The constant sound of trickling or cycling water isn't just annoying. It means your toilet is pulling fresh water continuously, and that adds up fast on your water bill.
This one came from a home in West Campus here in Lubbock. The toilet wouldn't stop running, and the flush wasn't performing like it should. Classic signs of a worn fill valve and a failing flapper - two small parts inside the tank that do a lot of heavy lifting every single day.
We swapped out both. A new fill valve controls how water refills the tank after each flush. The flapper seals the tank so water doesn't leak through to the bowl between flushes. When either one goes bad, the toilet runs non-stop trying to compensate. Fresh components on both ends fixed the issue completely.
The thing about tank internals is they wear out gradually. Most people don't notice until the problem gets loud or their water bill spikes. It's one of the most common toilet repair calls we get, and honestly one of the easier fixes when you catch it early.
If your toilet is running between flushes, taking forever to fill back up, or just not flushing the way it used to - those are all signs the internal components may need attention. We handle toilet repair and replacement across Lubbock and can usually get it sorted out in a single visit.
