Slow drains are easy to ignore - until they're not. What starts as a sink that takes a little longer to drain can turn into toilets backing up, tubs that won't clear, and water going places it definitely shouldn't. That's usually a sign the main line needs attention, not just a fixture-level fix.

We were out in the Gatewood neighborhood of Lubbock working a main line blockage. The cleanout access was right at the base of an exterior wall, and we set up with our Milwaukee drain machine to get the cable down the line and break through whatever was causing the backup. It's not glamorous work, but it's the kind of thing that makes a real difference inside the house.

Main line clogs are different from your typical slow drain. They affect every drain in the home because everything ties into that one line. When it's blocked, you'll usually notice it in multiple places at once - the toilet gurgles when you run the sink, the tub backs up when the washing machine drains. That pattern is a clear indicator the problem is further down the system.

The good news is that clearing a main line is usually straightforward when you catch it before it gets worse. We got the line flowing the way it should and cleared out of there. No major digging, no damage to the property - just the right equipment and knowing where to access the line.

If your drains have been sluggish or you're noticing backups in more than one spot, don't sit on it. These things tend to get worse over time, not better.
