Question 1

Is Cotton City Plumbing licensed and insured?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Cotton City Plumbing holds Texas Master Plumber License M-44446 and carries full liability insurance and workers' compensation coverage. You can request proof of insurance at any time before we begin work.

Question 2

What should I do if I have an urgent plumbing issue?

Accepted Answer

If it is safe to do so, shut off the water source or main water supply to limit damage, then call us directly at (806) 441-4110. We will discuss the next available service option with you.

Question 3

What areas do you serve?

Accepted Answer

We serve Lubbock and the surrounding West Texas area including Wolfforth, Shallowater, Slaton, Idalou, Levelland, Littlefield, Abernathy, Anton, Tahoka, Post, New Deal, Smyer, Ropesville, and New Home. If you're unsure whether we cover your area, just call us.

Question 4

Are your plumbers background-checked?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every Cotton City Plumbing technician undergoes a background check before joining our team. We send uniformed, professional plumbers to your home — you'll always know who to expect.

Question 5

Do you offer financing?

Accepted Answer

Financing options may be available for qualified buyers. Ask about current options when you call or book online.

Question 6

Do you charge for estimates?

Accepted Answer

For most standard service calls, we provide upfront pricing before any work begins. For larger projects like repiping or slab leak repair, we may schedule a free on-site assessment. Call us to discuss your specific situation.

Question 7

Do you give upfront pricing?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We believe in transparent, upfront pricing — no surprise charges after the job is done. We'll tell you the cost before we start, and we stick to it. See our Pricing Guide for typical cost ranges.

Question 8

Do your plumbers work on commission?

Accepted Answer

No. Our plumbers are never paid on commission. This means they recommend only what you actually need — not what earns them the highest payout. It's one of the ways we put our faith-based values into practice.

Question 9

What payment methods do you accept?

Accepted Answer

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, cash, and personal checks.

Question 10

How long does a water heater last?

Accepted Answer

A traditional tank water heater typically lasts 8–12 years. Tankless water heaters can last 15–20+ years with proper maintenance. Lubbock's hard water can shorten lifespan if the unit isn't flushed annually.

Question 11

Should I repair or replace my water heater?

Accepted Answer

If your water heater is under 8 years old and the repair cost is less than 50% of a new unit, repair is usually the better value. If it's older or has repeated issues, replacement is often more cost-effective long-term. We'll give you an honest recommendation either way.

Question 12

What's the difference between tank and tankless water heaters?

Accepted Answer

Tank water heaters store and continuously heat a reservoir of water (typically 40–80 gallons). Tankless units heat water on demand, providing endless hot water and using less energy. Tankless units cost more upfront but save money over time. See our full comparison guide.

Question 13

Do you install tankless water heaters?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We install Navien tankless water heaters — one of the most reliable brands available. We also install Rheem tank units. We'll help you choose the right system for your home's size and hot water demand.

Question 14

What causes recurring drain clogs?

Accepted Answer

Recurring clogs are usually caused by grease buildup, hair accumulation, tree root intrusion into sewer lines, or a partial pipe collapse. A camera inspection can identify the root cause so we fix it permanently rather than just clearing it temporarily.

Question 15

What is hydro-jetting?

Accepted Answer

Hydro-jetting uses high-pressure water (up to 4,000 PSI) to scour the inside of drain and sewer pipes, removing grease, scale, and debris. It's more thorough than snaking and is especially effective for commercial kitchens and heavily built-up residential lines.

Question 16

How do I know if I have a slab leak?

Accepted Answer

Common signs include unexplained increases in your water bill, warm or wet spots on the floor, the sound of running water when all fixtures are off, and cracks in walls or flooring. If you notice any of these, call us immediately — slab leaks worsen quickly.

Question 17

Is Lubbock's water hard?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Lubbock's municipal water supply is very hard — typically 15–25 grains per gallon (GPG). This causes scale buildup in pipes, water heaters, and appliances, shortening their lifespan and reducing efficiency.

Question 18

Do I need a water softener in Lubbock?

Accepted Answer

Most Lubbock homeowners benefit significantly from a water softener. Soft water extends the life of your water heater and appliances, reduces soap usage, and eliminates the white scale deposits on fixtures and dishes. We install and service whole-home water softener systems.

Question 19

What's the difference between a water softener and a water filter?

Accepted Answer

A water softener removes hardness minerals (calcium and magnesium) through ion exchange. A water filter removes contaminants like chlorine, sediment, and other impurities. Many Lubbock homeowners benefit from both — we can assess your water and recommend the right combination.

Question 20

How quickly can you come out?

Accepted Answer

Scheduling depends on the type of work, technician availability, and location. Call or book online and we will discuss the next available service option.

Question 21

Do I need to be home during the service?

Accepted Answer

Yes, an adult (18+) must be present during the service call to authorize work and provide access to the property.

Question 22

Do you offer a warranty on your work?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We stand behind our work. Labor warranties vary by job type — ask your technician for specifics. Manufacturer warranties apply to all equipment we install.
