Plumber in Waters, Lubbock, TX

Trusted Plumbing Experts Serving Waters

The Waters neighborhood is a residential area in west Lubbock, situated near the Slide Road and 4th Street corridor in the 79416 ZIP code. Homes here were built primarily in the 1970s and 1980s, a period when Lubbock's west side was expanding rapidly and copper supply lines were the standard. That copper is now 40 to 50 years old, and while copper is a durable material, Lubbock's exceptionally hard water — with total dissolved solids and hardness levels that rank among the highest in Texas — has taken a significant toll. Pinhole leaks in copper supply lines are a recurring issue in Waters-area homes, caused by the combination of high mineral content, slightly acidic water chemistry, and decades of thermal expansion and contraction cycling. Water heaters in this neighborhood are also under constant stress from scale buildup; a water heater installed without a softener in Waters can accumulate an inch or more of calcium scale on the heating element within five to seven years, dramatically reducing efficiency and shortening the unit's life. Cotton City Plumbing recommends whole-home water softener installation as a first-line defense for Waters homeowners, paired with a tankless water heater that handles the area's mineral load more efficiently than a traditional tank. We also provide full copper repiping, slab leak detection, and drain cleaning services throughout the Waters neighborhood. The 1970s and 1980s homes here often have original cast iron drain lines that benefit from periodic hydro-jetting to clear grease and scale accumulation.
